Stop Watering The Weeds

Stop Watering The Weeds

Seeing the seasons
come and go
waiting and watching
wondering
if I’d ever know

Preparing myself
purging and clearing
Nothing to do now
but wait
for your appearing

That what is asked for
will certainly come
Patience is a virtue
Focusing positively
This is not yet done

The road to fulfillment
not for the faint of heart,
is paved with obstacles
Mistakes easily made
When blindly taking part

Watering the weeds
considering all possible
A trap laid by despondency
Stop and take the time
The behavior illogical

Waiting, trusting
you have heard the call
I am ready
Your arrival now imminent
I have let down the wall

Poetry In Motion

Poetry In Motion

In this warped and crazy world
where the peculiar reign supreme
I lose myself in words
to live in my chosen daydream

In a bucolic existence
writing poetry and prose
Stories of escape and freedom
allow me to transpose

Away from the insanity
of a world gone haywire
Seeking tranquility
My writings do inspire

Transported to a place
of pastoral idyll
where stanzas evolve
into poetry unbridled

A waterfall of thoughts
Flowing freely from the pen
A wordsmith can choose
To be lost time and again

National Poetry Writing Month
NaPoWriMo - Day 28
And now for our daily (optional) prompt. As you may have
guessed, today I’d like to challenge you to try your hand at
a meta-poem of your own. If you’re having trouble coming
up with a poem about poetry, and would like to take a look
at a few examples, you might check out the Wallace Stevens
and Harryette Mullens poems featured in the article about
metapoetry

The pen is my instrument

And life my mentor

An extraordinary journey

Questioning what’s in store

A burgeoning dream

To heal our pain

Writing about fears

Sheltering from the rain

Exorcising demons

With our blood for ink

Pulling me back

From teetering on the brink

We may heal ourselves

From the wounds of misery

The pen is mightier than the sword

and it inflicts no injury

Endless Cycle

Endless Cycle

The signal has sounded
A life is relinquished
The weight of longevity
A light extinguished

What was the beginning
is now the end
but what was once old
becomes new again

The cycle of life
for some is finite
and for others it is
a chance to reunite

Cultures do vary
and many will reincarnate
into whom Karma
has deemed appropriate

A life lived respectful of all
Humans and animals equally
One never knows who they’ll be
Anyone or anything conceivably

For others the end is the finish
Nothing left but the black
Life has been lived
There is no going back

None of us know
Until we are finally there
Tomorrow is another day
Hopefully we wll be somewhere
