Eyes Wide Open – Week # 27

Another Saturday morning rolls around and time for me to share some more iPhone photos as I go about my daily business of connecting with the world around me. These are all just random shots of things that catch my eye. I find them interesting but they do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder! See what you think.

Have a great Saturday!

PS. My schedule will be changing in the coming weeks so I will be putting the Eyes Wide Open section of my blog on a temporary hold until I have more time to take these fun photos to share. I will still be writing and participating in the fun things!

Well hello there little bird….I can see you

Some cool looking clouds

These jellyfish are at our local Aquarium and Marine Research Center

My dog Grace found the tortoise I frequently see on my walk along the nature trail

This was a really nice place to sit and catch your breath after a run

See, Climate Change is real. This sign was on the waterfront next to the above bench

Eyes Wide Open – Week #26

Good Saturday morning! I hope you all had an enjoyable week. Here are some of my iPhone photos taken while I was out and about people and nature watching. It’s amazing what you see when you have your eyes wide open.

Enjoy your day!

This cool looking Chameleon was in the pet store
Pretty climbing roses still in full bloom
I saw this beautiful hawk and wished I had my Nikkon camera
with me! Oh well, another time
Oh how I love shopping at Trader Joe's for their sense of fun.
This little stuffed Manatee in a sailboat was on display above
the cold shelves
Now this guy was all alone just twirling his giant baton in the park.
I hope he had a good reason
The lone fisherman

Eyes Wide Open – Week #25

Good morning! I hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas holiday.

My week was busy with the usual preparations in the kitchen, making delicious food and loving my family, just like many of you. It was good, however, to get out in nature and exercise a little. Christmas always entices us to eat much more than we would normally! Here are some photos I captured this week on my iPhone.

Have a great Saturday!

Pretty White Heron let me get close to take this pic

A neighbor has bird feeders that attract these beautiful green Parrots. On this day there were so many and I scared a lot away trying to take this photo

I love this park by the Bay. There are so many places to walk, sit, lay in a hammock or hang out at the Tiki Bar. Sometimes I do all of those!

Sometimes don’t you just want to sail away somewhere?

Oranges just about ripened. Ready for the picking!

I may have shared these before but I just love these Banyan trees

The Grateful Dead – RIP Little Possum

Eyes Wide Open – Week #24

Good Saturday morning!  I hope you have enjoyed your
week.  The weather was as little crazy here in Florida,
a little chilly for December, and a lot of rain too.  On Thursday
there was even a Tornado that swept through a community just
north of here. Yikes!

Anyway, here are some photos that I took on my iPhone when
the weather was favorable.  Hope you enjoy them.
Have a great day!
A beautiful Florida sunset was a lovely sight this week
This isn't a UFO!  It was a spider on her web clutching some kind
of crustacean that was bigger than she was!  It was just above

my head
An assortment of Ibis and Herons sitting on the mangroves
My dog Grace looking very interested in the wading Heron
Buddha contemplating among the Bamboo trees
This house has been empty for some time (someone's second home)
however, I can't help thinking those Buzzards that are usually
perched there, aren't exactly helping the realtor trying to sell it

Eyes Wide Open – Week #23

Good Saturday morning!  Here is another collection of photos from
my world to share with you.  As you have come to know, these are
just everyday photos, of things that catch my eye.  All are taken on
an iPhone.

Hope you enjoy them.  Have a great day!

Local Fish Store

A kayaker at sunset
The late afternoon sun captured in this fountain looked so pretty
A Yellow Crowned Night Heron looking relaxed in the water
Brussel Sprouts are decorative in their natural state, but
I still can't stand them!
A statue of Neptune where he belongs by the sea

Eyes Wide Open – Week #21

Good Saturday morning!

It was an unusual week and I wasn’t able to get as many photos as I’d hoped so I have cheated a little and included two from a vacation to Ireland a couple of months ago.  I was so lucky that I got to take a lesson in Falconry, which is something I have always wanted to do.  It was amazing to walk through the woods with this beautiful hawk on my wrist and she would take off for a while and then return to me once I popped a mouse head in my glove!  Lovely!

All photos were taken on my iPhone

Here she is, just landed

What a beauty she is!

Now, back in Florida, this little Heron is less scary

I captured this pretty sky with a Pelican in flight.  Lucky shot!

This is Grace looking rather superior sitting in the warm sun

While walking Grace we spotted another turtle managing to camouflage himself in the woods

Eyes Wide Open – Week #20

Good Saturday morning!

This was a strange week having a holiday in the middle, and double duty in the kitchen, but I did get out managing to take a few iPhone photos to share.  Enjoy your Saturday!

I guess some people do.  That’s very sad

I see this guy quite often but he’s always too busy to wave back!

Now this fisherman was happy to connect.  Not so sure about the Ancient Mariner. Or maybe it was Captain Birds Eye!

This lone Plumeria bloom is hanging on until the last leaf has fallen

This is one of my favorite places to sit, write, read or just watch 💕

Pretty pink Bougainvillea blooming year round for our enjoyment

Eyes Wide Open – Week #19

Good morning!

We had a much cooler week with temps in the low 80s and yesterday we had a cold snap and it dropped below 70! Brrrr!  I checked out the beach and was happy to see the Red Tide had finally gone and there were no more sad remnants of sea life scattered on the shore.  It certainly hurt tourism this summer when most Europeans like to visit. Thankfully everything is pristine again and ready for this coming winter season and the return of the northern snowbirds.

Enjoy your Saturday!

One of the Lifeguard huts on Siesta Beach

A couple of sailboats heading out from the bay

Siesta Key Beach and it’s pretty white quartz sand

The Gulf looking chilly (to me anyway!)

I don’t know what you call these things but they always make me smile!

We have an English Tea Shop here and they have a cutout of the Queen

welcoming everyone.  I love it!
