Lost No More

Lost No More

Sun streaming through trees
piercing the forest floor with laser light
I follow the path of brightness
towards the beacon luring me

Unafraid of the unknown
I sense I am in familiar territory
Tall oaks, limbs stretched wide in welcome
pointing me in the direction to travel

Focused on the journey I pay no attention
to distractions pulling me away from my focus
I hear not the call of ghosts from my past
or feel the hands that pull on my clothes

The force propelling me forward
stronger than a million magnets
I am no longer lost
I am found

Laura is hosting D'Verse Poets tonight and she has prompted
us with Lost and Found poetry. We are to choose one of
the 'Lost" poems provided and respond to it with 'Found' poetry.

I chose to respond to Pablo Neruda's Lost In The Forest

“Lost in the forest, I broke off a dark twig
and lifted its whisper to my thirsty lips:
maybe it was the voice of the rain crying,
a cracked bell, or a torn heart.

Something from far off it seemed
deep and secret to me, hidden by the earth,
a shout muffled by huge autumns,
by the moist half-open darkness of the leaves.

Wakening from the dreaming forest there, the hazel-sprig
sang under my tongue, its drifting fragrance
climbed up through my conscious mind

as if suddenly the roots I had left behind
cried out to me, the land I had lost with my childhood—
and I stopped, wounded by the wandering scent.”

Song Lyric Sunday – Found

I love today’s prompts for Song Lyric Sunday. Jim Adam’s has given us ‘Lost, Found, Hide and Seek’ I’m happy because I get to share my favorite U2 song, ‘I Still Haven’t Found what I’m Looking For’ from the Joshua Tree album.

According to Wiki, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” is a song by Irish rock band U2. It is the second track from their 1987 album The Joshua Tree and was released as the album’s second single in May 1987. The song was a hit, becoming the band’s second consecutive number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 while peaking at number six on the UK Singles Chart.

The song originated from a demo the band recorded on which drummer Larry Mullen Jr. played a unique rhythm pattern. Like much of The Joshua Tree, the song was inspired by the group’s interest in American music. “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” exhibits influences from gospel music and its lyrics describe spiritual yearning. Lead singer Bono’s vocals are in high register and lead guitarist the Edge plays a chiming arpeggio. Adding to the gospel qualities of the song are choir-like backing vocals provided by the Edge and producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.

“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” was critically acclaimed and received two nominations at the 30th Annual Grammy Awards in 1988, for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It has subsequently become one of the group’s most well-known songs and has been performed on many of their concert tours. The track has appeared on several of their compilations and concert films. Many critics and publications have ranked “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” among the greatest tracks in music history including Rolling Stone which ranked the song at number 93 of its list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Lyrics
I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For
by U2

I have climbed the highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you

I have run I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you

But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for

I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in the fingertips
It burned like fire
This burning desire

I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone

But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for

I believe in the Kingdom come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
But yes, I’m still running

You broke the bonds
and you loosened chains
carried the cross of my shame, of my shame
You know I believe it

But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for

But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for

Another Thursday rolls around
and she walks to the village green
slowly

She will stand by the old oak tree
Sure that today he will be there
waiting

This her new weekly ritual
A pilgrimage to her lost love
Longing

Two years had passed since he left her
to fight in an overseas war
Hoopla

He was a marine proud and true
and a hero in her young eyes
Glory

Missing in action they told her
Sorry but we cannot do more
Useless

She refused to give up her hope
Although everyone would rib her
Kindly

As always her heart did a skip
But today he was standing there
Oorah!

You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine
Lou Rawls
You’ll never find, as long as you live
Someone who loves you tender like I do
You’ll never find, no matter where you search
Someone who cares about you the way I do
Whoa, I’m not braggin’ on myself, baby
But I’m the one who loves you
And there’s no one else! No one else!
You’ll never find, it’ll take the end of all time
Someone to understand you like I do
You’ll never find the rhythm, the rhyme
All the magic we shared, just us two
Whoa, I’m not tryin’ to make you stay, baby
But I know some how, some day, some way
You are (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss my lovin’ (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss my lovin’ (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss, you’re gonna miss my lo-o-ove
Late in the midnight hour, baby (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
When it’s cold outside (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss, you’re gonna miss my lo-o-ove
You’ll never find another love like mine
Someone who needs you like I do
You’ll never see what you’ve found in me
You’ll keep searching and searching your whole life through
Whoa, I don’t wish you no bad luck, baby
But there’s no ifs and buts or maybes
You’re gonna miss my lovin’ (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
I know you’re gonna my lovin’ (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss, you’re gonna miss my lo-o-ove
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
Late in the midnight hour, baby (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
When it gets real cold outside (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
I know, I know that you are gonna miss my lo-o-ove
Let me tell you that you’re gonna miss my lovin’
Yes you will, baby (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
When I’m long gone
I know, I know, I know that you are gonna miss
