Religion Road

Religion Road

We are all heading to the same destination
just choosing a different way to get there
The highways and byways of religion
are jammed with the faithful
Frequent stops proselytizing
to the polite yet incurious
All with dogma to sell
But at what price?

Song Lyric Sunday – Highway Vagabond

For the second week in a row I have not only gone back to visit County Music, I have also chosen another song by Miranda Lambert. Jim Adams prompted us with Vagabond, Loner and Drifter for Song Lyric Sunday. I found it quite a challenge to find something and it will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with today.

By the way, Jim has a new badge for Song Lyric Sunday. Let’s use it.

Highway Vagabond is on The Weight of These Wings, the sixth studio album by American country music artist Miranda Lambert. It was released on November 18, 2016, via RCA Records Nashville. The album consists of two discs, with Disc 1 titled The Nerve, and Disc 2 titled The Heart. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and No. 3 on the all-genre US Billboard 200 chart, and has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In addition to winning Album of the Year at the 2017 ACM Awards, it is considered by several music publications as one of 2016’s best country albums.

Lyrics
Highway Vagabond
Miranda Lambert

I wanna go somewhere where nobody knows I wanna know somewhere where nobody goes
Following gold lines on the ground, northbound, southbound
There’s something ’bout the way I feel when the wheels go round and round and round
Highway vagabonds, living like hippies
Moving right along to the next big city
Okay, jump off the exit
Truck stop, rest stop, next stop Texas
Caravan like a wild west show
I don’t care, man, as long as we go
My way
Get off one and get on the other
Highway, vagabonds
Daddy was a drifter, mama died young
I still don’t know where I come from
On the map and off the grid
With all my friends
Roaming town and town like Willie did when he was a kid
On the road again
Highway vagabonds, living like hippies
Moving right along to the next big city
Okay, jump off the exit
Truck stop, rest stop, next stop Texas
Caravan like a wild west show
I don’t care, man, as long as we go
My way, singing for your supper
Get off one and get on the other
Highway, vagabonds
But if we ain’t broke down then we ain’t doing something right
But if we ain’t broke down then we ain’t slowing down tonight
Highway vagabonds, living like hippies
Moving right along to the next big city
Highway vagabonds, living like hippies
Moving right along to the next big city
Okay, jump off the exit
Truck stop, rest stop, next stop Texas
Caravan like a wild west show
I don’t care, man, as long as we go
My way, singing for your supper
Get off one and get on the other
Highway, vagabonds
Highway vagabonds
Highway vagabonds
Living like hippies (highway vagabonds)
Moving right along to the next big city
Living like hippies (highway vagabonds)
Moving right along to the next big city (highway vagabonds)
Living like highway vagabonds (highway vagabonds)
