Medicine For The Soul – A Soliloquy

Medicine For The Soul

A wafer-thin moon appears
in the late afternoon sky
Pale as milk and semi-transparent
Mirroring my mood of this day
Having fallen by the wayside
of everyday life
Feeling as fragile as a crumbling cracker
being spread with ice cold butter
Jarred by the day’s impossible round
of bare-knuckle punches
Rejected, insignificant
Weary from the extraordinary efforts
I managed to perform without regard or thanks
Taking a deep breath I stare
at the simple beauty before my eyes
The transformation from a gossamer moon
to a thick cheesy ball smiling back at me
I sense my equilibrium being restored
as my body drinks the medicine for my soul

Victoria C. Slotto is guest hosting Meeting art the Bar at D'Verse tonight
and has prompted us with the Soliloquy.

Soliloquy is a form of speech spoken aloud by a character but addressed to no one except his or her self. The purpose of the soliloquy is to allow the audience to get a glimpse of the character’s inner thoughts and feelings while keeping them hidden from the other characters. The soliloquy differs from a monologue in that the latter is spoken so that other characters may be made privy to the speaker’s point of view. A soliloquy can express thoughts, emotions, intentions, plans and desires. It can influence the unfolding of the plot and can create irony.

One Liner Wednesday – Remember to Laugh!

I was looking for something light-hearted or at least something without the F-word, to share with you today for One Liner Wednesday. I came across this and have been giggling ever since. Thankfully I have no intestinal problems at this time!

Have a great day and remember to laugh, it is Wednesday after all.

For Linda G. Hill’s One Liner Wednesday

Escape from Chaos

Desperate to escape the chaos
I reach for my formula of medicine
Journal and writing implements in hand
Slipping quietly into oblivion

My thoughts become an epiphany
Exploding in my head
Furiously I write them down
Capturing all before they are dead

The clear night
Gave forth to brilliant stars
Lighting the sky
Like a fireflies in jars

The soft breeze
Was calming my soul
Musical leaves fluttering
I will soon again be whole

My words move quickly
Across the page
Reminiscent of ballerinas
Dancing on a stage

My heart empties
Its tears of pain
Forming verse so beautiful
Reminding me I am sane

When inside my head
Becomes dark and captured
I can set the demons free
With writings enraptured

Flowing effortlessly
Like waters in a stream
Unleashed onto paper
As if in a dream

Therapy for my head
The jumbled pieces of my brain
Coming together in harmony
My heart does not beat in vain

The pen is mightier than the sword
My words are my power
Grounded by my enlightenment
While adversaries inhabit ivory towers
