Darkness

Darkness

The shadow falls across your face
and I lose you once more to the darkness
Your time in the sunlight limited
by your own demons
robbing you of happiness
Once more allowing the chaos
to rule our world, destroying harmony
I watch with sadness as you are
consumed with anger and demand
retribution for wrongs only you perceive
I step back in horror as I witness
the madness consuming you
and I pray silently for the light

One Liner Wednesday – And The Diet Goes On

Being a poetry blog I attract a certain kind of reader. I regard lyrics as poetry and like to participate in Song Lyric Sunday each week because I enjoy researching the origin of songs and the emotion behind the lyrics. There I find a different kind of reader. One Liner Wednesdays, on the other hand, are my release and I look for some humor each week rather than trying to impress with something profound. I have discovered that whenever I go down the road of dieting I attract a completely different reader. I wonder who will visit today. Welcome everybody and I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

This is a pretty good excuse if your looking for one!

Summer Sentiments

Summer Sentiments

In the summertime
when days are long
and the heat lingers
into the night
Memories are made
and captured
like fireflies in a jar
Fascinating, full of wonder
Replaying moments
over and over
and holding on tight
so not one may escape
Until that bittersweet moment
when you must release
and set them free

Lillian is hosting D’Verse Poets tonight and has
Sent us back in time. She asked us to find a song that was a hit on our birthday at any time in the past. We used a website called http://mybirthdayhits.com/ It was a fun thing to look up. On one of my birthdays, the song “In the Summertime” by Mungo Jerry was #1 for seven weeks. Whenever I hear it I immediately smile. It brings back many memories for me. I have included it below. I hope you enjoy too.
