New Beginnings – A Tanka

New Beginnings

As winds start to blow
Autumn takes the last flower
Dropping withered seeds
Back to hardened, fallow earth
Destined to be born again

Frank Tassone is hosting D’Verse Poets tonight
and has prompted us with Jisei (Japanese Death Poems)

Jisei were often written in waka (tanka) or haiku, but death poems are not restricted to those forms. What is essential is the expression of both imminent death and the significance of life in the face of it. In this sense, Jisei is the poetry of both memorial and celebration.

Song Lyric Sunday – Time of the Season

Good morning!

Today, Helen Vahdati’s Song Lyric Sunday prompt is “Season”. This is an old favorite of mine from the 60s by The Zombies, called Time of the Season. It was written by the lead singer Rod Argent. I hope you enjoy it.

Have a great day!

Lyrics
Time of the Season

It's the time of the season
When the love runs high
In this time, give it to me easy
And let me try
With pleasured hands

To take you and the sun to
Promised lands
To show you every one
It's the time of the season for loving

What's your name?
(What's your name?)
Who's your daddy?
(Who's your daddy? He rich?)
Is he rich like me?

Has he taken
(Has he taken)
Any time
(Any time to show)
To show you what you need to live?
Tell it to me slowly
Tell you what?
I really want to know
It's the time of the season for loving

What's your name?
(What's your name?)
Who's your daddy?
(Who's your daddy? He rich?)
Is he rich like me?

Has he taken
(Has he taken)
Any time
(Any time to show)
To show you what you need to live?
Tell it to me slowly
Tell you what?
I really want to know
It's the time of the season for loving
