In the perfect stillness
of this magical cave
our voices echo in semi darkness
throwing back the sound we gave
The light reflecting imagery
of perfect visual symmetry
We drift on mirrored pool
in silence but for our breath
The air heavy, dank and cool
Humidity smelling of death
Shivering with a feeling of fear
Wondering where to go from here

Sadje's Weekly What Do You See?
Merril is hosting at D'Verse Poets tonight
and has prompted us with 'Echo'
In the stillness
of the morning
I see her again
The woman in black
Standing on the rocks
in silence
Staring at the sea
motionless
The breeze lifting
her hair and leaving it
to tousle about
her shoulders
Whenever I come
at this time she is there
Never acknowledging
my presence
Absorbed in her thoughts
and quietness
I smile nervously
but she looks through me
As if I were transparent
I speak but she does not hear
It was then I realized
I was looking at myself
The woman in black
was me
My head was always
in the future
instead of being in the present
I was mourning the
loss of something I would
never have
unless I started living

Go Dog Do Cafe - The Woman in Black
Finally, the oxygen
fills my head
and my breathing
settles
into its natural
rhythmic sound
The candle flickers
and eyes close
My brain slowly
calms
until I am at peace
where it is always found
Mind and body
in harmony
Outside world
closed off
Tranquility
all around
The stillness rejuvenates
body and soul
Clarity is the gift
to myself
for
I will not be bound
