Haiku Love lies deep within where it’s roots grow strong to embrace the world Christine Bolton - Poetry for Healing ©
Senryu Please be strong for me Because now I need you more than ever before Christine Bolton - Poetry for Healing ©
As surely as a brook
will babble
or an eagle soar
or a candle
blows in the wind
Love for you
remains certain,
unwavering
It is sometimes
fraught with tension
or filled with anger
as we wrestle
existential pressures
Yet it is strong
Perpetual and everlasting
in its uniqueness
Often misunderstood
and disregarded
as blindness
by those who
stand in judgement
and cast doubt
on its worthiness
What do they know?
They perceive love
as only tender and giving,
quiet and soft
Complete harmony
But love is more
It is challenging
with opposing forces
that fiercely bring change
In the aftermath
comes growth
New realities
and possibilities
Continually evolving
Teasing, exciting
as its foundation
strengthens

Word Prompts
Caught up with Christmas festivities this week
meant my poetry took a back seat so some of
the prompts are from earlier.

My love remains strong
navigating every storm
with you by my side

Pretty bird so small but strong
Singing his sweet song

Who controls the pecking order of life?
Because I’m on the outside
looking in
Nose against the window
like the proverbial stepchild
Taking it on the chin
Living on the edge of the herd
Feeling like the runt of the litter
These are the emotions I bear
Easy to slip into a depression
Dragging others down
Wishing I wasn’t there
Just feeling that life
is dealing me the cards
of endless misery
The ones you fold
so the others would win
Like some kind of trickery
Invisible
the color of my life
I fall through the cracks
Constantly trying to scale
that overgrown fence
Just once wishing to relax
Feeling imperfect
But knowing I’m not
All I want is a chance
Look at me I’m here
Just like you
Give me a second glance
Determined to begin again
And experience a rebirth
My stellar light will shine
Brighter than before
You’ll concern me no longer
I’ll be stronger next time
