Just Leave

Just Leave

I am exhausted
Weary of you now
I need to breathe
Somewhere else
Where you are not
spewing your toxicity

My head needs calm
and my heart, peace
There is neither
Where you are
I need to find
that safe place

To switch off from you
This time forever
So I do not have to
Listen to your
false accusations
To justify your wrongs

Leave, go, get out
were your commands
I heard, I did, I went
Yet you are still unhappy
Your words still come
Hurtful, cruel, indelible

Toxic

Toxic

We laugh and cry
Smile and frown
Usually together
We slip and slide
Soar and fall
Whatever the weather

Now your thoughts toxic
covering your heart
in a dark shadow
I hold a lantern
looking for some light
or an afterglow

Impressionable images
Clouding your brain
and misguiding
Festering memories
rearing their heads
and dividing

What comes out
is caustic and poisonous
Harming those in your path
Patiently I wait
until it is all spent
While shielding from your wrath
