The scent of jasmine
hung heavy
in the still night air
Soothing and assuasive
Peace had descended
on the carnage
of the day
The rage came
unmasked and bare
its teeth
Fear engulfed
all on its path
The remains
of the day
scattered for miles
Bricks and mortar
Splintered wood
from ancient trees
Personal belongings
One constant sign
of normalcy
Water cascading
to the wrath
of a twister

Waterfall – A Cascade Poem

in the quietness
of my mind
my escape complete
water falling
in the quietness
lofty trees
sheltering, protecting
of my mind
the beating heart
of my stag, silent
my escape complete
