Flowing Free – Poem of the Month – July 2023

Flowing Free – A Quadrille

As inevitable as change
it would come
After a hard, frozen winter
Tears of sadness cascaded
in a melting waterfall
of cathartic release
All good things sullied by spite
and left to drown in the river of hope
Now, finally flowing fast and free

Twister

Twister

The scent of jasmine
hung heavy
in the still night air
Soothing and assuasive
Peace had descended
on the carnage
of the day
The rage came
unmasked and bare
Showing
its teeth
Fear engulfed
all on its path
The remains
of the day
scattered for miles
Bricks and mortar
Splintered wood
from ancient trees
Personal belongings
One constant sign
of normalcy
Water cascading
timelessly
Oblivious
to the wrath
of a twister

Waterfall – A Cascade Poem

Waterfall

in the quietness
of my mind
my escape complete

water falling
soothing
in the quietness

lofty trees
sheltering, protecting
of my mind

the beating heart
of my stag, silent
my escape complete
