Watershed Moment

Watershed Moment

Wearing his anger
Drinking his madness
Slowly drowning
Clawing for breath
Disappearing into blackness

Baptism by fire
He had drawn her into his trap
Willingly she had gone
High on the ride
Then it hit her like a thunderclap

Her life blood slowly drained
by his negativity
Escape was out of her grasp
Until that watershed moment
When she saw possibility

Retrieving her life
Piece by piece
Taking a different path
No longer his concubine
It was her only release

She shed the last remnants
of the painful memory
This one final action
Leaving her cleansed and shaken
Her spirit no longer in jeopardy
