Deviate

Trucking along the road

Disregarding life’s load

Taking advantage of the free ride

Letting someone else be the guide

Never to deviate from the course

Using another as the centrifugal force

Having lost all sense of being

You are now merely sightseeing

A shadow of your former self

Resembling an object on a mantle shelf

Used and abused with no voice

You have forgotten that you have a choice

Pave your own way out of that hell

All stigma attached you must dispel

You have the strength to be reborn

Heal the parts of you that are worn

Find yourself once more

Start walking to that door

On the other side is hope

A new life is not beyond your scope

Introduce

Introduce

Let me introduce to you
Without any further adieu (ado)

The star of tonight’s show
Who is so very eager to go

He has been chomping on the bit
To be on this stage so brightly lit

Making his first appearance
For such an esteemed audience

He has rehearsed for days
In the hope of receiving the praise

For his Tony-worthy performance
Which to him is of the utmost importance

His lines have been memorized
Every possibility analyzed

He is such a professional
He is almost obsessional

His costume impeccable
He looks most respectable

This is his moment as he walks onstage
Everyone cheers, they are on the same page

He takes the microphone from the stand
When suddenly it is grabbed from his hand

What the heck said he
To the person he could see

You are embarrassing me in front of everyone
To which the voice answered, Sir, your fly is undone

Demise

Demise

The moody music you are playing
Is no friend to my disposition
I am trying to wrap my arms
Around our imminent demise

Someone so focused and organized
I am at a loss for what to do next
Spinning in circles of confusion
With tears in my eyes

Angry words screamed at each other
Shameful and painful
Why do we do this to each other?
There is never a winner or a prize

Not willing for further confrontation
I slip into the quiet
You are not finished though
And you seek to further chastise

Fleeing to alternative quarters
To avoid another onslaught
I am followed like a shadow
You continue to antagonize

If you don’t want me to respond
Then let this battle cease
You will not wear me down
I will fight until I capsize

Mellifluous words spoken
Would be music to our ears
Why don’t we stop and listen
We are just spewing out lies

Where will this end?
How many times have I asked myself?
I am blinded by many emotions
Which are difficult to rationalize

Frozen in time
I fear the next move
Will you continue to be umbrageous?
Or will we reach a compromise?

Negotiate

Negotiate

Now let’s get this straight
I don’t want a debate
My intentions are clear
I am not going to disappear
I just need to be heard
Deep emotions have been stirred
Stop the finger pointing
It has become so annoying
Childish in its approach
You are not beyond reproach
It’s time to discuss
The future of us
Where do we go from here
More fighting is what I fear
The situation has started to frustrate
It is now time to negotiate
What is your currency going to be
Would you rather be right than happy
Wishing we both had a switch
That we could flip when there’s a glitch
Emotions difficult to navigate
Let’s just try to mitigate
Our differences are surmountable
As long as we are both accountable
