Another Day in Paradise

Another Day in Paradise

The flames of sunset
burning what’s left
of the daytime sky
Awash with golden honey,
pinks and dappled greys
Tall Mexican Fan Palms
stand like giant swizzle sticks
waiting to stir an evening cocktail

A moon already on the rise
soon to make its entrance
before the scattering of stardust
against what will become
the velvety night time expanse
And so it is
The end of another
day in paradise

  1. Greetings fellow poet! That was a beautiful poem! I love the fan palms as giant swizzle sticks! Great line.

  2. I like the use of colour in the first stanza, Christine, so evocative of sunset. I smiled at the ‘Tall Mexican Fan Palms…like giant swizzle sticks / waiting to stir an evening cocktail.’

    1. Thanks Kim. I love the colors of sunset. It’s different every night. Yes, those palms make me smile every time I look at them ☺️

    1. Yes! I cannot do the cold weather anymore but there are definitely trade offs to consider when you end up here! 🙂
