Sometimes beautiful and unique A snowflake falling on your shoulder Disappearing as quickly as it arrived Love arrives, surprising, and wrapped in wonder
Other times it can come out of left field landing with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer Love comes packing a punch Raw, with little finesse, and no negotiation
Or a slow-growing oak tree from a tiny acorn From the spark in someone’s eye Nurturing a delicate sapling of love Protecting its fragility until maturity
Perhaps on the delicate wings of a butterfly Stopping only for moments to drink love’s nectar And leaving as quickly as it came Short-lived but unforgettable
I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose.
Thanks for checking it out.

A great poem sharing the different aspects of Love. Love definitely is unpredictable.
Well! How appropriate for me to write I love this! The comparisons of how we find love…the details and connections are just wonderful. I especially love the acorn analogy. I think in this way, we have a friendship that slowly evolves into love. I’ve always said, it’s really important to marry your best friend 🙂
Wow! Love the journey through how love can be!! You knocked me down with your last stanza – totally awesome – and the last 2 lines!! “Short-lived but unforgettable Love is surprising.”

Christine, I like “the bright elusive butterfly.” That song is really one of my favorites and how it describes love. Your poem made me think of it.
