Only the sea could match the anger Only wind could howl with more clangor Here no one listens and there’s no one to call An unheard scream goes where dead words fall In the furor of crashing waves drowning the agony of woes The significance of their pain wasted on those no one knows Flowers waving in sympathy as they slip to a watery grave Where lost souls are bound and not one person can save
Lillian is hosting Tuesday Poetics at D'Verse and has prompted us to write a poem about the sea. I have pulled this one from my archives. I wrote it in 2020 and share it here with no updates.
I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose.
Thanks for checking it out.

howling, angry, “the furor of crashing waves drowning the agony of woes” a “watery grave” Your imagery is superb here….we can see and feel the anguish and pain through your words and picture a sea that is not at all the “romantic” one others conjure.
A poem of pathetic fallacy, Christine, where the sea echoes the emotions. I love the sound of the phrases ‘howl with more clangor’ and ‘drowning the agony of woes’.
Oh this is a very affecting poem.

This is the sea that swallows, receving us when the pain of living is too hard.
