Rain

Rain makes its pitter-patter sound
against the window
Droplets roll down like teardrops
and circle in a pool on the sill
The sound gentle, relaxing
Smoothing the rough edges
of trying times
Hypnotic and dreamlike

A grey sky is soon covered
with night’s blanket of darkness
Dousing the flames
of fury and frustration
that ruled the day
The rain continues
its steady downfall
gently lulling me to sleep

  1. There is something so calming about the gentle pitter-patter of the rain. I like the imagery in this and the balancing by nature of strong emotional feelings. I bet your dreams were very good after you fell asleep.
