You and Me – A Quadrille

You

How could you?
I gave you the moon and stars
And you broke the promises
we made
Our vows were forever

Me

You treated me like a slave
Talked to me with contempt
You took back gifts
Supposedly given in love
You lied to me

Lillian is hosting Monday Quadrille at D’Verse Poets Pub tonight and she has given us the word “Promise” as her prompt.

A quadrille is a poem of exactly 44 words excluding the title(s). I have two as there are two sides to any promise.

  1. Of all the strong lines…taking something back is the strongest, be it love or something tangible…I find that so culturally and morally unacceptable…

Really liked the concept of this verse, very clever, and effective…thank you so much for your lovely words on Substack, will answer today..

  2. Ah yes, the ‘vow’ conundrum. Can be quite difficult to maintain for a lifetime. A great quadrille! Thanks so much for leaving me a comment.
