Unfinished Business

As had happened so often
Seeing you again
I threw caution to the wind
Time stood still once more
The crowded room, empty
Just you and I
All hurt and tears forgotten
Anger, a distorted and faded memory
Discarded with the toxic garbage we had become

Time apart had been longer
More serious in nature
and final
Never again I had said
Over and over
To you
To everyone
What did it say about me?
That what we had was acceptable?

I renounced our relationship
and stayed away from you
Yet here we are once more
Talking up a storm
Laughing, loving
As if never a bad word had left our lips
What is it that brings me back to you?
What is it about us that
Is unfinished?

  1. OMG! This is so Awesome, Christine!!! I love, love this!!! You’ve captured the truth “love never dies” but does lie hidden and confined in the heart until it gets released for Halloween and Full Moons!! LOL! This is so full of seeds of inspiration!!! Bellissimo, Sweet Poet, Bellissimo!!

    1. Oh dear Chuck, thank you for your sweet comments. I think we all have unfinished business if we keep revisiting what was once a healthy relationship. Not so much if someone was escaping violence and abuse. It’s hard to fall out of love.

    1. Thank you Merril. The marrying someone twice is definitely unfinished business! I have a friend who married her husband twice and divorced twice. His name was Mike Brown. Today she is in a wonderful relationship with a new man called Mike Brown. Clearly she just kept picking the wrong Mike Brown! 🤣❤️

  2. That unfinished business… sigh… who knows whether it may be cause to bringing two people together or tearing them apart. Gorgeously rendered, Christine ❤️❤️
