You Hung The Moon

In my mind
You hung the moon
And tied the stars to ribbons
Draping them across the sky
The Milky Way to my heart

Falling for you like a meteor
Crashing to earth
Oh Henry my love
I cried good and plenty
When you left me

My tears fell in polka dots
Big splotches of rain
Dampening the love
We made together until
It finally washed away

Lillian is hosting D'Verse Poets tonight and she has asked us to feature one or more names of a candy from the list she provided. I managed to include three (italicized) in my poem.

  1. A romantic first stanza, Christine; the poem turns on that crash to earth, with a sad ending. My favourite lines:

‘You hung the moonAnd tied the stars to ribbonsDraping them across the sky’.

  2. You had me with the first stanza!!! And that first line, when I read it, puts me right into the poem. Well done and good use of the candy names. Thanks so much for posting to the prompt! Love it!
