By the Light of the Silvery Moon – A Haibun

I absolutely love the hot weather here in the south. For all my grumbling about hurricanes each summer, and wanting to wear jeans boots and sweaters in the winter, well I have learned to compromise. For the severe storms, I can make sure I have all the supplies I will need in case of emergency and hunker down hoping for the best. For preferred winter attire, I could take a trip to cooler climes.

It is the beautiful warm tropical nights that you will never hear me grumble about. A full silvery moon on a balmy evening is soothing to the soul.  Crickets chirping, and frogs croaking as the moonlight catches the water’s surface is pure magic.

Moonlight shines brightly
On the lake’s jet black surface
Silver sparkles dance

  1. Those warm tropical nights sound sublime, Christine. I would love to hear crickets chirping and frogs croaking, and your description in the haiku is stunning.
