Return

Return

Time had come
to face the past
Having left long ago
to follow a dream
this return, the last

Running away
gave her life breath
The needed space
to exist in freedom
Or die a slow death

The gates of hell
Her captor in darkness
Controlling the mind
Robbing thoughts
Living in starkness

Escaping the torture
Where her mind resisted
Beyond the morbid prison
Of her own invention
Learning love existed

The triumphant return
A celebration of the soul
Liberated from captivity
Living now free, having crawled
from the black hole

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine
