Earth Angel

A rose among the thorns
her beauty a beacon of hope
to those down in the mire
and at the end of their rope
 
She was a good woman
sacrificing for those in need
The hungry and poor at the mercy
of the rich man’s greed
 
With no thought of self
her own agenda delayed
Working for the less fortunate
A duty no one could dissuade
