First Date

First Date

Feeling jittery and excited
In my stomach
there were butterflies
You will be here soon
I imagine how it might be
and allow myself to fantasize

It is seven o’ clock
and then seven thirty
another 30 minutes go by
Waiting by the window
Anticipating your arrival
and then I begin to cry

Where are you?
Did I get the time wrong
You said you would come
My first real date
Your word is broken
Leaving me quite numb

I cannot comprehend
why you are not here
so I go to your house
I will make you tell me
why I have been stood up
Be accountable, you louse!
