Fading Memory

Fading Memory

In the fading light of day
I allow my mind to wander
To those places from long ago
You and I belonged to each other
Inseparable, lives interwoven
Never wanting to let go

We would talk all night long
Putting right to the world
Falling asleep in each other’s arms
Making plans and dreaming dreams
Fighting for what was right
Smitten with each other’s charms

It was all so long ago now
Time and space between us
Two lovers who were star-crossed
You will visit my thoughts again
When loneliness takes its grip
And I lament something precious I lost

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

  1. You wrote this one, lovingly, with those deep feelings of loss, and of memories that live on, vividly touching…. I play this lovely song on these days…

    1. Dear Ivor, I know you have experienced deep loss and I appreciate your kind words. I love the song you attached by the master himself. He was a beautiful poet. Thank you my friend. ☺️💕

    1. Thanks so much VJ. It is so true. We look back sometimes and wonder why we were so upset. ☺️
