Laura is hosting at D'Verse Poets tonight and has asked us to consider when less is more and prompted us with using one or more of the following: ageless ~ boundless ~ breathless ~ careless ~ cloudless ~ colourless ~ faceless ~ fearless ~ feckless ~ flawless ~ formless ~ harmless ~ heedless ~ helpless ~ homeless ~ listless ~ needless ~ restless ~ rootless ~ senseless ~ tasteless ~ weightless ~ windowless ~ wordless
I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose.
Thanks for checking it out.

You make the shopping sound so much not what is good for the soul
Christmas shopping can be a chore for some, that’s all. Perhaps less emphasis on the shopping and more on the giving was my point. I was following the prompt. 🙂
Ugh, you’ve given me the horrors. I hate that push and shove of mindless shopping and the exchange of meaningless bits of crap. You capture it really well, and use all those “less” words beautifully. I stalk the shops at Christmas muttering “mathoms”. And yet I love Christmas, and I love giving.
I think you have described “Black Friday” to perfection. The senseless rush to spend, spend, spend followed on 12/26 by return, return, return. The true spirit of Christmas is so often lost, and the homeless are still homeless and the hungry are still hungry. Sad comment on much of modern society. Evocative write!

Things certainly are topsy turvy with the giving, and you captured that feeling very well in your poem.

Thanks Lisa. I just think many lose sight about what is important as they succumb to the pressure of commercialism 😑
