Ghost Town – Tanka

Ghost Town

A gritty wind blows
between derelict buildings
Long forgotten homes
of the disenfranchised souls
who lived there singing the blues

Frank Tassone is hosting D'Verse Poets tonight
and has prompted us with a five line Japanese
Poetic form. I have chosen a Tanka.

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

  1. I felt a chill when I read your tanka, Christine, which reminded me just how lucky I am. A haunting thought, those ‘disenfranchised souls who lived there singing the blues’.

  2. Your words are perfect accompaniment for the photo. May I ask the source of the photograph? It speaks volumes.
