I Protest

I Protest

Paralyzed
Thoughts scrambled
in a head
heavy with fog
This cannot be happening
The death of democracy
is staring me
square in the eyes
Liberty and freedom
snatched from
the arms that
lifted those
too weary
too poor
too hungry
Our pride in country
squashed
stolen
The dumbing down
of a nation
willingly following
a pied piper
like blind fools
A cheap trickster
lining his pockets
from the coffers
of society
I am frozen
in time
watching helplessly
as a fascist
robs us of democracy
while spitting on
our constitution
I protest
I protest
I protest

    1. Yes Regina, I keep hoping that those conservatives will find the strength to stand up and say “enough” but unfortunately I don’t think they will. 😑

    1. Yes Grace they have very slowly and successfully deconstructed the administrative state piece by piece. Call the press fake news, create conspiracy theories so people will believe them and then tell them that only you can save them. We are watching the birth of fascism in America. Who would have thought that was possible?

    1. I am so worried Dwight. How will it end? I want to go down a rabbit hole and peek out after January 20 and see what happened 😕

  1. I hear you! If ever was a time for protest, it is now. What’s happening in your country is truly frightening for the whole world. May it reach a peaceful and positive conclusion. I love the photo you’ve used here, too!

    1. Thank you Ingrid. Yes it is very scary and we feel so helpless. My husband suggested that poster. He remembered it from the 60s. Dylan and Baez ☺️ It was perfect. I hope what we all fear most never happens.

  2. Powerful words, Christine! I too am fearful of what will happen. It could indeed be the ‘death of democracy’ following the ‘dumbing down of a nation’, which came as no surprise to those who did not vote for T**** – I’m sick of typing his name! A cheap trickster indeed.

  3. Thanks Kim. I can’t bear saying his name either so I use Captain Bone Spurs and Idiot in Chief! Who would ever have thought we would. Call the President of the USA such names? We have less than 40 days to the election and each one will be more painful until our nightmare is over. The sanity of the world is at stake. Gosh that sounds so dramatic but sadly true 😧

  4. AMEN!! My absentee ballot has arrived. I can vote my protest, and hope and pray there are enough of us to do so.
