I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose.
Thanks for checking it out.

Very beautifully and realistically penned.
“The house of love
no more than a folly
Pretty on the outside
empty on the inside
Completely useless
and a waste of time”
I feel like this (1) describes a love that has lessened; the connection is severed, these two lovers no longer feel the way they once had or (2), this describes pure infatuation. The foundation of infatuation is not love, though on its surface, it can appear to be. Often, appearances are deceiving. Were you also inspired by the background between the Earl-Bishop and Frideswide? I think I can see some of that influence in this piece. As said, this is very beautifully written and it describes a realistic story that happens much too often, sadly.
Thank you Lucy! I really appreciated your feedback. Yes this was based on infatuation and I was inspired by Lisa’s story ☺️ It is always folly to try and build on sand.
Thanks Lynn. I think people who rush into marriage/partnerships would agree that it rarely works and those who do succeed must have a hell of a time ironing out the wrinkles! 😳🤣
Excellently done, you’ve captured the feeling of infatuation here, how it can completely take over our lives… if we’re not careful. But are we in control?
I love this – reminds me of my Grandma (mother to 7 children): ‘that part only lasts five minutes then you’re stuck ironing shirts.’🤣 Hopefully doesn’t always have to be that way!
Thank Ingrid. Oh poor grandma! Thankfully we have a little more of a voice these days – not much, but better than in those days. We have to continue to fight for everything ☺️
Christine this ended in frustration, almost giving up. A house lovely on the outside empty on the inside, that’s truthfully how many people live their lives. There’s a melancholy truth in what you’ve written here.

The void inside is what scares me most… if it’s love or a house.

Yes, too easy to fall in love with the idea of love, rather than love itself. Without love, it is empty and hollow.

Thanks Rob. Yes I agree, some choose to live their life that way. Loneliness? Security? who knows? Its quite sad.
