Catharsis

Catharsis

High above the turmoil
is where I sit
Leaning against stone
Cool and comforting
Calming the chaos
Clamoring in my head

The stillness soothing
Slowing time
Slowing heartbeats
Breathing deeply
The crisp, clean air
sends oxygen back to my brain

Below the tempest brews
in torrents of anger
Its waters boiling with rage
Thrashing against sharp rocks
Swallowing all in its wake
Taking no prisoners

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine
