Salty tears fill vacant eyes that have seen too many atrocities that no child should ever witness Crying, following grown ups wherever they go Sobbing in time with their shuffling feet Weighed down by their winter clothes and bundled belongings Going anywhere but here
Bjorn is hosting Monday Quadrille at D’Verse Poets. Tonight he has prompted us with the word “Eyes” I saw a heartbreaking segment in the news last night and it featured a little Ukrainian boy who couldn’t have been more than 3 or 4, sobbing his eyes out as he wandered along with the refugees. It touched me deeply.
I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose.
Thanks for checking it out.

Christine, your poem is so poignant. The innocents always suffer and so many times they have no understanding why. “There but for the grace of God go I.”
Helen, thank you so much. I was trying to find the little boy who I had seen in a news broadcast b ut couldn’t find his image online. That was heartbreaking 😢 The one I used was still a Ukrainian refugee picture from last week. It is so sad to see children in so much pain.
So sad, however no only in Ukrainian that we should get more concern and leave other part of the world i mean in Africa particularly in DRCONGO where this problem have been in existance 26 years down the road.
Yes you are so right. It seems the media will only keep these stories of horror on the front page while it impacts our countries, especially when there is a threat of a nuclear war.
Oh, so sad.

Thanks Paul. I just can’t imagine being a young child and having to experience that kind of trauma. Breaks my heart seeing a child cry.
