It is 7:30 in the evening and the temperature is still 90° F. Obviously it was higher this afternoon and the heat index put it over 100° F. I’m OK with that because I was brought up in grey and cold, rainy weather. However it is still Springtime and here in SW Florida we see the summer beginning earlier and earlier each year. November to June is our dry season with little rain, so to be burning hot already is indicative of climate change.
The Gulf of Mexico is already beginning to boil and that is not good. Especially heading into hurricane season.
Our planet is showing its displeasure. Forest fires, floods, snow storms, rising oceans, Red Tide and heatwaves in the most unlikely places.

Well done, Christine. Ironically, we think we can control everything. Nature reacts as she chooses!

OH how I love your part of the world! Friends in Venice Beach and in Bradenton ….. In Central Oregon where I live, the ravages of climate change are painfully obvious. Great writing.

I’ve lived in various parts of Florida and was shocked at how hot it had gotten in the Pensacola, Ft. Walton Beach area. I agree. Climate change is slapping us in the face. Your haibun says it all! Let’s hope someone listens. ❤

Hi Colleen, yes indeed it has and the Pensacola area has come really close to some hurricane landfalls in recent years. They say that Miami could be under water in another 10 years 😦

I’ve read that as well, Christine. I expect it might happen sooner if the ice continues to melt in the Arctic. It’s worrisome for sure. ❤

So true Christine . Here in our country summer is also on its peak and we are hoping for rain. This is true that earth is angry💕

Yes! We can’t wait for rain and then in six months we will pray for it to stop 🙄. It’s hard to see floods in different parts of the US and then see the forest fires in California where they badly need to rain that never comes. 😢

Yup. So true and here in Pakistan rain comes in different regions at different times❤

One of my listeners in Philadelphia told me the temp is 10 degrees above normal in her area. 90 degrees a few days ago. People are suffering. Take care.

Yes the temps in PA and the northeast have been ridiculous for this time of year. The planet is on fire 🥵
