Dancing With The Devil

a sadness envelops me
whenever I reminisce
beautiful memories
of far off places
promises made
and gifts given
wishes coming true
but cruelly snatched away
in a broken heartbeat
happiness turned to tears
at the snap of wicked fingers
because he could
I cry because
I know now
I was dancing with the devil

      1. Sorry to hear it, Christine. I was thinking of myself and my ex-SO 😦 If they had better pinpoint accuracy on lobotomies, I’d have one (only half kidding.) Maybe like that movie, Total Recall, they can call it Half Recall 😉 I actually think that was the plot of a Jim Carrey movie about eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (not sure that’s the exact title, but…)

  1. This is so poignant ~ sadly it is always the sensitive, the thoughtful and the creative ones who attract negative people into their fold.. but .. like you said.. we have come to recognize them.

Here’s to fighting off the bad guys! Cheers 💖💖

  2. First a very good rhythm to your verse, making it so readable, but second, very cleverly/nicely done to delay that killer line right to the end, and buildup to it like that.
