Always With Me

You dance among the rays of the sun
As they streak through the trees
You are the twinkling of the stars
And the bite of a winter freeze

You are a bee buzzing among the flowers
A dragonfly with gossamer wings
You are the tickle in my nose
And the song an early bird sings

You hover on wintery white breath
In the early evening frost
Dusting my cheeks with snowflakes
Disappearing before they are lost

You are the diamonds dancing on a lake
When the shadows grow long
A feather dropped where I will see it
Prompting me to be strong

You are omnipresent in my life
Everywhere I will ever be
Always a constant reminder
Of what was taken from me

  1. A stunning poem, Christine, which touched me deeply. It’s so comforting to think of loved ones still there. There is so much to love about this, I can only pick out a couple of lines:

    ‘You are the twinkling of the stars
    And the bite of a winter freeze’;

    ‘You are the tickle in my nose
    And the song an early bird sings’;

    and especially, as I think my mother does this from time to time:

    ‘A feather dropped where I will see it
    Prompting me to be strong’.
