You were the drug that dragged me down I was addicted to you Dependent on you Giving away little pieces of myself for more of you I became a shadow of myself Not recognizing who I had become Succumbing to the drug, which was you Allowing you to control me Offering me more and more of it Until I could not cope without you You were my dealer My dope peddler My candy man You had me hooked and you knew it I reached rock bottom From there the only way out was up I can see clearly now and you are not in the picture anymore
I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose.
