Impasse

Impasse

The fragility of the moment
causes me to stop
where I am
Another word, another step
could break the dam

We glossed over the issues
Copious amounts of energy
devoted to the cause
Nothing was resolved
I break for a pause

No palette for your indignation
I ignored the caustic remarks
The recurring theme
exhausting and
inevitably there will be sparks

So where do we go
having reached this point
We are at an impasse
Perhaps I’ll move to the boondocks
Where greener the grass

The mix of today’s word prompts did not inspire me too much and I was stuck for most of the day trying to create something 😬

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

  1. The backstory you provided at the end helped me enjoy it so much more; I could understand it better. I looked more closely at the batch you had to work with, and it certainly was a challenging collection – but I admire your persistence 😀

    1. Thank you so much! I could
easily have just put it down and waited for tomorrow’s prompts but I was determined to get boondocks in there somewhere! Lol 🙂
Thanks for hanging in there with me and your wonderful supportive words. I really appreciate it.
