Tree of Life

Tree of Life

Come into my arms

Let me shelter you

from the storm

Let me cover you

with my silken leaves

and keep you warm

You may sleep on the

soft and pretty

flowers at my feet

A carpet of beauty

with their fragrance

so exotic and sweet

I will give you my limbs

so you can break them

to kindle a fire

You may eat my fruit

to nourish your body

and do what you require

I am here for you

whatever you ask of me

Do not resist my attraction

I will breathe my life

into your starved spirit

for your needed benefaction

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

  1. exactly as she is pictured, you portray her beautifully in your words. offering herself, broken, taken to nourish others. such an unselfish feeling flows through your words

    1. Thanks Stephen. You must know that I did not grow up with the Giving Tree and had not read it when I wrote this. It just felt natural 🙂
