The Wall

The Wall

The ice in your heart will not melt
Even in a springtime thawing
Nor will the wall around you fall
Unless you stop withdrawing

In-between the bricks and mortar
I search for the invisible gap
Hoping I might find a way in
But I fear that you will entrap

You are a pillar of stone
That will never crack
Cold, hard, impenetrable
All I want is to have you back

Playing your unfair game
of three strikes and you’re out
Punishing and cruel
You are a brute and a lout

Banished from your world
Never more can I enter
You have chosen to be
The ultimate tormentor

    1. Yes, there are men like that. Sorry if you had first hand knowledge of someone like that. It hurts 😦

  1. Great poem! Understand the hurt and yearning in this – been there done that, but I think I’ve come to believe in the saying, “when they show you who they really are – believe them!!!

  2. Wow. This is amazing. Felt kind of attacked, but I love it nonetheless. The kind of poetry that stops and makes you reevaluate.

    1. Thanks Sophia! I guess it depends on what side of the wall you are if you are feeling attacked. It could go both ways 🙂💕
