White Out

White Out

The snow kisses the ground
And lingers awhile
Its down-like blanket
shrouding the forest
fooling us
with a wicked smile

Tree branches encased
with crystal ice
Preservation limited
until Spring
when the sun returns
to this part of paradise

Lonely footprints
in the virgin snow
marking the journey
of someone’s adventure
across the field
now fallow

No tire tracks to be seen
and no soul in sight
Not even a snowman
gracing a garden
or a cardinal against
the backdrop of white

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

    1. Thanks V.J. Yes, it is so beautiful to look at, but you are completely alone. Sometimes that’s a good thing I suppose but I’m sure it can be depressing over a long period of time 😔
