Everlasting
In the glorious sunset
It is so easy to forget
The times of trouble
When we were so young
and how far we’ve come
from love’s young couple
We fought like cat and dog
Sometimes it was just a slog
Never thinking we’d make it
As poor as church mice
Never having anything nice
Making do with polish and spit
Somehow, we survived
Now I feel we have arrived
at our life’s destination
Stronger now than then
Finally knowing it when
it was worth the aggravation
Loving you faithfully
Accepting faults gracefully
For us we made it through
Now in the sunset of life
Grateful to still be man and wife
Really, who knew?
