Time of the Season
The scent of orange blossoms
filling the air
The trees’ bloated fruit
already dropping to the ground
The beginning meets
the end of the circle
and Nature’s beauty is crowned
The bald eagle sits high
atop the pine
Surveying the landscape
for his prey
Butterflies fluttering
Searching for the sweet nectar
Lizards scampering away
A tropical paradise
thriving on sunshine
Rain an infrequent visitor
at this time of year
Exotic birds, colorful,
Long legged and awkward
with no apparent fear
An alligator basking
on the bank of the lake
A roseate spoonbill
at his side
Neither caring
about the other
In harmony they bide

Ahhhhh must be so nice to be out and walking amongst it all in the warm sunshine. You captured an idyllic scene where all exist in harmony.

Okay..I want to go there…..now! 🙂
I love your opening about the scent of orange blossoms. A long long ago memory of my grandmother came immediately to mind. When I was a little girl, my family drove every summer to Tampa, Florida to visit her. No airconditioning in the car…old highways. What I remember most is two things: the scent of my grandmothe’s Midnight in Paris perfume; and the scent of orange blossom perfume which she always took me to buy at a Florida souvenir shop. That always made me feel grown up and I smelled like oranges for weeks! 🙂

Oh what a lovely memory Lillian! The smell of orange blossom on the tree is so beautiful. There are oranges everywhere right now. I only live about an hour from Tampa. Thanks for reading 🙂💕

So idyllic, Christine, and your gorgeous descriptions have warmed me on a misty, frosty morning, although the sun is shining now. I especially loved imagining the scent of orange blossoms and that bald eagle.

Thank you Kim. It was those the things that promoted me Kim. I saw a bald eagle the other day and got some pics on my iPhone and then yesterday the smell of orange blossoms was so heavy in the air. Beautiful 💕
