Poem of the Month – July 2019 – Small

Small

How small and insignificant I feel
As the waves lap the shore
In my mind I escape to a place where
My thoughts have never gone before

Would this mighty sea swallow me?
In one fierce and furious gush
Or kiss my feet with a gentleness
That I may hear the earth’s hush

Its energy coursing through my veins
Safe from harm, yet almost possessed
Losing myself in its tactual sensation
My spirit willingly repressed

Realizing I could be taken by the ocean
and become a slave to its force
I quickly return to the calmness
Lost in the tranquility of the source

  1. I love the rhythm, the sounds, the sometimes sea-spray of waves. For me, the ocean offers pure serenity. A wonderful post.
One quick favor, Christine. Might you add a Tag or link to dVerse so others can find our site as well?

  2. You are small, regardless, but how you turn depends on you. You can be swept away — or rest in tranquility. Beautiful, Christine!

  4. Nothing like sitting seaside for contemplation. On the one hand the ocean can soothe, on the other it can terrify!

    1. Yes exactly Beverly! the sea is very mysterious too. I always think something under the water is going to bite me 😀
