Questions

What is missing inside of me
that refuses to believe
I am worth more?

That this treatment
I have received
is acceptable?

Instead of being taken
to the top of the mountain
I was left to rot in a ditch

Declarations of love
Duplicitous, dishonorable
yet believable

Now I am a warrior
fighting for her life
with amputated limbs

My heart in need of healing
Doubting and doubtful
Scarred with cynicism

Why do I fear abandonment
by someone capable
of delivering cruelty?

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine
