The Messenger

The Messenger

I am Mercury
but I cannot
convey
my feelings
to you
A communicator
talking to
a brick wall
I speak
and you hear
a foreign language
You are deaf
to my words
Oblivious
to my feelings
One more
roll of your eyes
I cannot stand
When did you
stop listening?
When did you
stop remembering?
When did it
become okay
to disrespect me?
When did I become
such an irritant?
I am rendered
speechless
Frightened now
to use my words
fearing they
will be misconstrued
and weaponized
to fight against me

Don’t shoot the Messenger

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine
