Sanctuary

Sanctuary

Tall grasses at
water’s edge
as green as limes
Exotic blooms of lotus
flowering abundantly
time after time

Protective trees
shielding a sacred spot
where serenity is found
A place to regroup
and clear the mind
never hearing a sound

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

  1. A beautiful poem, Christine…and this spot was a perfect sanctuary, where the only sound was birdsong and the whisper of a dragonfly’s wings.

  2. Your own little #SecretSpot B-) . When I was a kid, we’d have our own little spot out on the woods where we’d build big forts and then get mad when some other kids would come and trash it while we were gone. This reminded me of those good times.
