Where Do We Go From Here?

Where Do We Go From Here?

Now the love has gone
and open wounds will not heal
Wanting to move on
but paralyzed limbs
are planted in stone

Neither wanting to make a decision
Who will go first
to choose freedom?
Is that what it will be? Free from each other?
Did we try hard enough, if at all?

Too in love to let it go
and break the tie that binds
Who is fooling who?
The love is missing
What magnetic force is in play?

Is it time to rip off the Band Aid
we plastered on the cuts and bruises
from angry words weaponized?
Time to stop kissing better
those things that won’t ever?

I will mourn each day
Because he is gone
You are now living in his body
But you are not him
You are a shadow of who he once was

You look like him
But you are someone else
A person I don’t know
A stranger in my midst
who sees someone else
when he looks at me

Where do we go from here?

  1. OMG Christine! This is such an awesome and raw post. Moving and sadly bittersweet! Written by one who has lived this or has a Master’s genius at capturing the life of another perfectly!! Bellissimo, Christine Bellissimo!!
I’m hoping this is your fantastic creative ability and not autobiographical??

    1. Thank you dear Chuck. ☺️💕🌺 You are so kind. Most of what I write has some of me in there otherwise it would not be authentic ☺️
Sadly, many out there have experienced the same.

    1. Thanks Ingrid. Many of us have been there. It is so sad when it happens and you just don’t know what to first. 😢😩

  2. An oft-told tale. So hard to know when to keep trying and when to escape the constant yo-yo angst!

    1. That is so true Bev. I think the disbelief that is actually happening to you is paralyzing.

Painfully true and there is nothing left but pain to stay 😦

  4. Oh Christine, this is so gorgeously poignant.. I have been there, and several times.. all I can say is .. it’s not easy to cope knowing the person whom we once loved so deeply is but a mere shadow or less.. that remains.. sometimes, we have to kiss a few frogs .. before finding the one that clicks.. that connects. 💝💝
