Desert Rose

Desert Rose

Wind in the Sierras
blowing tumbleweed
across barren, dry landscape
Gone are the heady moments
from the previous night
with men all named John
Insidious pleasures
and steamy dalliances
A day in the life of a girl
known as Desert Rose

  1. I love this poem Christine. At first I wondered about the Johns and then the penny dropped. Wonderful use of word and love the photo. Thanks for joining in 🙂 🙂

    1. Haha…yes BB, Desert Rose is a woman of the night 🤣 LOL. I had visions of The Chicken Ranch and what goes on there. Otherwise I’d just be writing about the flower. Thanks for noticing the subtlety. ☺️

      1. Just writing about the flower wouldn’t have been the same. Thanks for introducing me to another place I have never heard of. The goings on in the Chicken ranch must have been something to have a movie made as well. 🙂 🙂

      2. Yes the Chicken Ranch in Texas closed down in the 70s I understand but the one in Nevada is alive and well and a working brothel with a website and a Facebook page! LOL 🤣🤣🤣
