Resilient

Resilient

At the darkest of hours
when nothing is left to be taken
Stripped bare of dignity
Pummeled into dirt
The taste still lingering in your mouth
even after you have wretched
it from your body
You dig even deeper than
where you have been before
Finding those special gifts
bestowed on you by all who
have beaten you down
Resilience and resolve
These are the things that lift you
from the hell that was your life
Your champions and saviors
who always know where you are
when you need them the most

Sanaa is hosting D'Verse poets and has asked us to write a panegyric poem
in honor of someone or something. I looked within, grateful for my inner
strength.

I have been writing poetry since I was a child and it has helped in the good times and bad times. I am always looking within to find the answers to life's problems and to write thought-provoking poetry and prose. Thanks for checking it out. Christine

    1. Thanks Sadje. Instead of praising someone else I wanted to remind others, especially those who might not feel as strong, that we have something to be proud of – our resolve, our faith in ourselves. It is always there if we look hard enough ☺️💕

  2. I absolutely love, love this! Inner strength is no doubt something that we should all celebrate 😀 especially resonate with; “Resilience and resolve/These are the things that lift you/from the hell that was your life.” Thank you so much for writing to the prompt 💝💝

    1. Yes they are the true champions who deserve the praise and we must look inward too. We are sometimes more resilient than we know. Thank you Bjorn
