Butterflies – A Quadrille

Butterflies

Ugliness lives
in an anger-filled world
careening out of control
Violence and hatred rule
in the name of rights
minus responsibilities

Butterflies live
and flutter in silence
The delicate beauty
of the moment
touching senses
with colorful vision
and gentleness

Imagination captured
Escape secured

  1. Ah the contrast of humans and butterflies….so well done here.
“rights minus responsibilities” yep….Rights do breed responsibilities. It’s something we teach our children as they get older. 🙂
Thanks for posting to the prompt!

    1. Thanks David. It has always sat wrong with me in this country. All you hear is “My rights, my rights” and no one wants the responsibility that goes with those rights 😕

    1. Your mother is the yellow butterfly fluttering around your front door. What a lovely thought Helen! Thank you for your kind words ☺️💕

  2. This is masterfully done, Christine! I love the contrast between ‘anger-filled world
careening out of control’ and the fluttering of butterflies in silence. The poem in its entirety is deep and speaks volumes to the reader. Kudos! 😍😍
