Dead End

In reflection
I see beyond the sorrow
Mourning the loss of future
but understanding the past
You were the road I had to travel
A journey with a twisted path
of excitement and mystery
but paved with potholes
and eventually a dead end

Why did I have to travel
along this way
and not another?
Not understanding it then
but now in retrospect
realizing the burden was
placed on my back with a purpose
That I might learn
to see the warning signs

  1. Loved this!!! Wisdom is learning from the life, lessons and mistakes of others instead of having to learn from making them ourselves!! The warning signs and signals don’t always register with the young about the “consequences”! Makes me think of Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” and that maybe you wrote the narrative of what taking the other road might have been?? 😊💕🌹

    1. Thanks Chuck. So kind ☺️❤️ . Don’t forget the famous Yogi Berra quote “when you come to a fork in the road … take it 🤣
